Mount Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous United States at elevation 14,505 feet (4,421 meters). It is located at the boundary between California's Inyo and Tulare counties. The western slope of the mountain lies within Sequoia National Park. Mount Whitney is the southern terminus of the John Muir Trail, which runs 211.9 miles (340.9 km) from Yosemite Valley.
Mt. Whitney Golf Club is a 9-hole regulation length golf course in Lone Pine, California. This medium-length layout has 3 sets of teeboxes for a fun, but challenging golfing experience.
This was not a stop planned but we were were tired driving all the way from Grand Canyon and we decided to stop cause we have learned our lessons after having a close death accident driving at night in Grand Canyon. ( I still have the pictures where our car skidded on the black ice. We were so lucky that our car finally halt at a stop at the other side, cause if not, you won't find me writing now as we will be falling down the cliff.)
We just know that we have reached a small town but as it was dark, we can't really see the mountain and imagine the surprise view we had when we woke up. O yeah, i remember we have our dinner at a popular pizza restaurant (cause i saw the most no of cars parking outside), it was really good, but i think Des and I are kind of the centre of attention when we were eating there.
From our pda navigation, we realise there is a golf course nearby and we decided to have a round of game before heading to Lake Tahoe, the lake that never freezes and is the second deepest lake in United States. You may realise the green is 'not very green' as it's the winter season, so its quite challenging hitting on the hard ground, but it was beautiful with the mountain surrounding us.
